Green Your Theme
by Jessie Upp, Founder of GreenYourTheme.com
In the past, I've involved myself deeply in facilitating leadership, personal and professional development in both home and corporate environments. As a Registered Counselor, I developed a curriculum to prevent unnecessary conflict in personal or professional relationships. As I started to train-the-trainers (mediators and therapists) last year, I began to see how powerful the curriculum applied to our physical environments as well.
GreenYourTheme.com is a tool to prevent unnecessary conflict between event producer and earth. It is just one more manifestation of creating harmony within our environment and this has helped me declare my vision here.
How do I carry out this vision? I'm utilizing my own curriculum to live into the vision I shared above. It goes beyond teaching ideas and moves into the mode of practicing and doing. The mission of GreenYourTheme.com is to encourage event producers to reduce waste, energy usage and carbon emissions. We just released a PR this week and welcome you to pass it on.
My intention is to discover suppliers who share the mission above, as they generate green event business through personal inquiry and service. Networking experts agree that if you want to get, give first. Holding this into consideration, we provide some ways to begin networking with other exhibitors and start recommending others. This networking etiquette is provided in our welcome letter for new exhibitors.
This networking may transfer over to an exhibitor's "Friend" network. We have established a powerful intention for exhibitors adding "friends" on GreenYourTheme.com. Once an exhibitor adds a "friend," it goes both ways. This means each exhibitor considers the other for business and, when appropriate, they are willing to recommend each other to their own clients. This is because they have established a successful working relationship, or great rapport (enough to warrant a referral).
I want to reach the next level of event planning, social marketing and prospecting on GreenYourTheme.com. I hope event producers choose green suppliers in their event sourcing. I hope our virtual exhibitors serve others before requesting leads.
The first thing I do to facilitate this is to qualify every exhibitor and then share our ettiquette of networking here. I also ask exhibitors to share their green supplier recommendations and provide them a section to ask for specific introductions on their booth profile, based on their ever-changing business needs.
If you have additional ideas that help us live into the intentions I shared above, I welcome them!
