Please join YWSE Portland on Wednesday, June 27, and meet Kacey Dawn, owner of Southeast Grind. Find out how she managed to create an impressively successful business, affect positive social change in her community, and have fun in the process! We will be meeting at 6 pm at the Purest Cafe (115 SW Ash).
Southeast Grind is Portland's only 24-hour coffee house and cafe. A true entrepreneur at heart, Kacey loves a challenge and turned this failing cafe into a thriving community hub in less than three years. Not even 30 years old and leading a team of 10, Kacey brings a fresh, fun spirit to business and hopes to inspire others to take the leap and start working for themselves. Her radical approach to business is based on integrity, positivity and social change.
She states, “I love the opportunity to create social change that being a business owner offers. We can really affect society in our coffee shop. We often get the opportunity to be the first public contact that people get in their day. We take our responsibility seriously to make that contact a positive one and focus on ways that we can send our customers back into the world inspired and with more of a smile on their face than they came in with. This has a positive ripple effect on our community. As the business owner I also get to do this with my employees. I feel that it’s really important to enjoy your work and do everything that I can to make working at Southeast Grind a fun and positive experience. I also enjoy voting with my dollar and supporting suppliers and vendors who are doing good things for the world.”
Kacey is excited to present how she created this thriving business, the philosophies that carry her to success, some of her greatest challenges and how she plans to continue to add value to the community through entrepreneurship to the Young Women Social Entrepreneurs group.
